All these house-made beauty formulas are said to make skin smoother and tighter and to fight wrinkles. At the very least, you'll benefit from the stress-relieving aromatherapy component to many of these home facials. Just don't eat or drink your toner.
Honey-cornmeal facial scrub
Combine 1/4 cup cornmeal, 2 tablespoons honey and 1 tablespoon ground almonds. Add water to even out paste if it's too dry. Pat on face; leave for 20 minutes; rinse.
Honey-ginger facial mask
Add 2 teaspoons of shredded ginger to 2 tablespoons of honey. Pat on face; leave for 20 minutes; rinse.
Puree half of a medium cucumber. Pat on face; leave for 20 minutes; rinse.
Mix 3/4 cup of vodka with 4 teaspoons fennel seed. Infuse for 4 days; strain through cheesecloth. (Makes multiple applications.)
For chapped lips
Add 1 tablespoon olive oil to 1 teaspoon glycerin and 2 tablespoons honey.
Pineapple core toner
Better than composting the pineapple core after you've carved and proportioned your fresh pineapple - use it as a facial. Run the core on your face, leave the juice there for 20 minutes; rinse.
