Hans Christian Heg
Today's image is titled "Hans Christian Heg" and was photographed by Jason Joyce.
"Proud soldier Hans Christian Heg appears to have been on the receiving end of a whitewash," writes Joyce in the caption to this photo, focusing on a Civil War memorial statue located at the east corner of the Capitol Square. The mid-spring snowstorm that cut a swath through much of Wisconsin on Wednesday was not as heavy as originally forecast, with anywhere from 2.7 to 5.0 inches falling throughout the Madison metro area. These totals nevertheless set a record for this late date.
More scattered snow is possible through Thursday, but the few inches coating the ground and weighing down tree branches should steadily melt as temperatures rise over the weekend.
