Setting Sun
Today's image is titled Setting Sun was photographed by Rob and Jessie Stankey.
"While playing in the football/soccer fields by U.W. Hospital, the setting sun painted the most beautiful colours on the untouched snow," note the photographers in the caption. Days have been slowly lengthening since the winter solstice last month, with the length of sunlight now stretching past the nine hour mark. There's still quite a ways to go until spring, though, and we remain in the heart of winter.
An arctic cold wave is forecast to roll over the upper Midwest next week. "Naturally this is a long way off and much can happen a week out to change the final outcome," warns the Milwaukee/Sullivan office of the National Weather Service. "But there is a strong possibility that temperatures fall below zero Monday night and stay below zero much of the time into Friday. If this happens, it would be one of the colder periods we've experienced in the past 15 years or so." Bundle up!
