I've never really believed the hype about Feingold giving Obama a primary challenge from the left in 2012, but his office nevertheless put any speculation on the matter to rest today.
"Senator Feingold is not running for President in 2012. Any suggestion he is thinking of running, planning to run, or interested in running is untrue. Senator Feingold is a strong supporter of President Barack Obama and wants to see him reelected in 2012," says Feingold Chief of Staff Mary Irvine.
Even in light of the Wikileaks cabals, which painted an ugly picture of Afghanistan that I'm guessing Feingold was already well-familiar with, Feingold doesn't have the support necessary to mount a successful primary campaign. Tragically, the Democratic base, like every other political group in the country, conveniently stopped caring about foreign policy as soon as a Democrat took over the wars that Bush initiated.
