All jokes aside, it's a step in the right direction that Wisconsin will now treat mental illness the same as physical illnesses. My brother, a budding psychologist/member of the conspiracy, has convinced me of the benefits of such a plan over the years. Too many people in this country regard psychological disorders as nothing more than a sign of weakness.
Although Glenn Grothman represents nothing close to the mainstream, his distinction between "biological" disorders and mental ones is far too common in America. There actually are ways to differentiate between genuine disorders and the run-of-the-mill craziness Sen. Grothman exhibits in every one of his hilarious press releases.
The ignorance comes from just about every cultural quarter of this country. There are those who dismiss psychological medication as unnatural. There are the scientologists. We all want to think our heads are different than the rest of our body that we have complete control over our brains. Unfortunately, even our brains are subject to the same forces of nature as the rest of our organs. Any health care plan that does not acknowledge this fact is an incomplete one.
