Your Madison Mallards defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks in Game 2 of the Northwoods League's South Division playoffs on Wednesday. The hometown team dominated offensively at the Duck Pond with its 14-5 win, which earned it a trip to the championship series and a shot at the league title.
"Six Mallards had multiple-hit games, and four different Mallards scored at least two runs," notes the club in its game report. "Each of the four innings that Wisconsin scored a run in the game, the Mallards answered in the very next frame."
The Mallards took Game 1 Tuesday night in Wausau, 4-1, with starter Alex Rivers pitching a two-hitter. Madison starter Matt Jansen, a left-hander from Purdue, ascended the mound at 7:05 pm.
The Mallards return to the Duck Pond on Friday, August 15 to host Game 1 of the 2008 Northwoods League Championship Series against the Thunder Bay Border Cats.
