At the end of a convulsive year that has seen the sacking of artistic director Richard Corley and layoffs for nearly half the staff, press release (PDF) issued by the company on Wednesday afternoon.
"We will continue to produce high-quality, innovative theater for our audiences, as well as continue to offer dynamic programs and thought-provoking entertainment," he continues. "Madison Rep has an amazing history of community involvement and support and I plan to focus on the community and what our organization can do for its well-being and how we can better engage everyone to participate in this vibrant theater company."
Gay directed the recent production of Fully Committed, and he is slated to direct the Rep's upcoming Bus Stop and My Fair Lady.
