Street Fighting Year: The Importance of 1968, Fifty Years On
UW Elvehjem Building 800 University Ave. , Madison, Wisconsin 53703
Award-winning radical scholar, author and filmmaker Tariq Ali has rubbed elbows with Malcolm X, Bertrand Russell, Henry Kissinger and Mick Jagger, and written more than two dozen books on history and politics — not to mention seven novels and a handful of stage and screen works. His groundbreaking Street-Fighting Years: An Autobiography of the Sixties was re-released earlier this year. At this event, he’ll receive the Havens Center Lifetime Achievement Award and will offer a lecture on the radical politics of 1968.
