Clancy received his M.F.A. in Metalsmithing and Jewelry from San Diego State University, San Diego, CA. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C. He has participated in the Haystack Open Residency Program, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Deer Isle, Maine, and has an upcoming workshop and exhibition at the Penland School of Crafts, Penland, North Carolina
