NORTH SIDE CHICAGO ROCKERS
TO JOIN BENJAMIN BOOKER
LIVE AT TURNER HALL BALLROOM
FRIDAY MARCH 27 6:30PM DOORS 8PM SHOW
Booker's "rapid and charmed and richly deserved" (Vice Noisey) ascent has hit a fever pitch. Booker has chatted with the New York Times about his "sudden rise," "wowed" on Conan (Consequence of Sound), and been raved about by Rolling Stone, NPR Fresh Air, USA Today, SPIN, Billboard, and more. Now the gritty punk/blues singer from New Orleans is returning for his first headlining show in Milwaukee after opening up for Jack White this past summer.
Benjamin Booker will be joined by special quest, Twin Peaks.
Chicago's Twin Peaks initially formed in 2009, a time when all of the members were still in high school. Fast forward to 2013. The band released their first album through Autumn Tone, an independent record label. The success of this album led the band to move back to Chicago in order to work on their second album, Wild Onion.
The band's musical style is viewed as a mixture of 60s garage rock and the 2010s garage punk sound. Pitchfork stated that the band "spends half their timeas a chugging power chord factory and half as a winsome power-pop band." The band's musical style on their debut album has been described as "sloppy, Replacements-inspired rock" while the band's second album features "a garage-rock sound that touches on everything from fuzz-soaked psychedelia and punk to ballads and baroque pop.
