Promega Spring Art Showcase Presents 'Creative Consciousness'
Promega Corporation presents 'Creative Consciousness', an artistic exploration into mindfulness and realms of consciousness. In this mixed media show, six artists interpret the unique impacts of consciousness and its undefined meanings using illustrations, photography, paintings, poetry and creative performances.
Andy Ewen - Andy Ewen's signature black and white illustrations have appeared in The Progressive, Isthmus, and The New York Times Book Review. An artist and local musician, Ewen has been the guitar player, singer and principal songwriter for Madison's Honor Among Thieves band for almost 30 years. He has performed with musicians such as Jim Schwall, Tani Diakite, Kicksville, and The Fourheads.
Micah Linton - An artist and graduate student researching consciousness, Linton's paintings depict elements of the psyche via symbolic representation. By delving into creative explorations of inner polarities, Linton uses the juxtaposition of light and dark forces encompassing unconscious elements to define meaning.
The Promega Spring Art Showcase Opening Reception will be held on Tuesday, March 10 from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm.
Wayne Branch - A self-taught painter, Wayne Branch uses art as his main form of communication. Branch has devoted himself entirely to painting and has produced one painting each week for the last 25 years. It is through these paintings that he studies himself, his mind and his consciousness. To date, Branch has at least 1,300 documented paintings, spanning nearly 31 years.
Lisa Frank - Lisa Frank is a 2014 MacDowell Colony Fellow in photography and holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also works as a lecturer. Frank's art encompasses 3D virtual reality technology, as well as 2D photographic work. She has an extensive professional background as an artist working in New York City, where she designed textiles, wallpaper and innovative surface treatments for notable residential and commercial interior projects.
Virginia Rose - Virginia Rose is a multimedia artist whose work embraces the realms of music, theatre, performance art, photography, and poetry. An artist entranced by fashion, Rose's work focuses on the epiphany of the costumed body. She is currently writing a book about her global thrift store shopping experiences, entitled "Otra Vase".
Skinny Gaviar - Skinny Gaviar is a Russian visual artist who creates pop surrealism graphic prints influenced by altered states of mind. Using primarily Photoshop and his laptop, Gaviar has created hundreds of original images and illustrations that explore the unconventional use of colors and themes, extreme emotional experiences, childhood nightmares and real stories.
