Experience Madison Bach Musicians’ production of Rameau's 1748 opera-ballet masterpiece, Pygmalion. Internationally recognized early-music specialist Marc Vallon will direct a full baroque orchestra, dancers and an outstanding vocal cast as they tell the tale of a sculptor who falls in love with his beautiful creation. Chelsea Morris, recently praised by The Chicago Tribune for her "luscious soprano voice," plays the statue. Tenor Dann Coakwell, the sculptor Pygmalion, has been called a "clear-voiced and eloquent...vivid storyteller" by The New York Times. MBM director Trevor Stephenson, and Rameau specialist UW-Madison Prof. Charles Dill will collaborate on pre-concert lectures before both performances.
