The Wisconsin Women of Color Network, Inc. will celebrate Women's History Month on Saturday, March 28, 2015, 10:30 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. at the Madison College, Truax Campus, Health Education Building, 1705 Hoffman Street, Madison, WI 53704. The celebration theme is:
"IMPROVING YOUR HEALTH AND WELLNESS OF WOMEN OF COLOR IN 2015".
The conference will feature health and wellness speakers from communities of color. They will focus their presentation on the critical issues relating to health and wellness of women of color and facilitating their access to community health resources. The audience is invited to participate in an interactive round table discussion.
Another significant feature of this event is the Recognition of the Recipients of the 2015 WWOCN Youth Achievement Award for Leadership. Funding for this award came from the Rotary Club of Madison to honor Jonathan Gramling, 2014 recipient of the Manfred E. Swarsensky Humanitarian Service Award. Mr. Gramling has chosen WWOCN as the beneficiary of this charitable contribution.
Four young women, one from each of the four racial ethnic groups that comprise the membership of WWOCN will be recognized for their exemplary leadership. They are:
Merissa Barber-Smith, African American, for education, role model and athletics
Alexandra Tiger, American Indian, for education and volunteer service
Jenine Ybanez, Asian, for arts, education, and volunteer service
Alonda Quechol-Ramirez., Latina, for cultural awareness and volunteer service.
A Buffet Lunch will be served at 11:30 am.
