Ten Variations On A Theme: 10 wire corn cribs, 10 installations - opens 1-5 pm Aug 23 at Silverwood County Park, as part of the Silverwood Harvest Fest/Open House. Silverwood, a new Dane County park dedicated to sustainable agricultural education is located at 771 Silver Lane (off Hwy 106) in the Town of Albion/Edgerton at the southeast corner of Dane County. To date over 500 lbs of food have been donated to Edgerton food pantries, 140 Madison Hmong families have been fed, Operation Fresh Start crews & families have been fed and untallied amounts to Madison food pantries in this 1st year of operation.
Artists in Ten Variations On A Theme include: Thomas Ferrella, Michael Winter, Amy Wencel, Nancy Vue with Bayview Hmong Community, Emily McCabe with Edgerton School District, Rebecca Power, Mark S.C. Nelson, David Ott/John Steines, Arthur Durkee, & FOSP - Friends Of Silverwood Park.
Future plans may likely include evening events to highlight the LED/Laser light shows which are a component of some of the crib exhibits. Silverwood County Park is a working farm and is open for scheduled tours, tours on request, and special events. Ten Variations On A Theme is intended to remain in place until Spring 2015 and artists anticipate documenting conditions and change over time.
