Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra
to present free “Side by Side” concert Sunday May 17
The Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) and the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO) will present a unique “Side by Side” concert Sunday May 17, 2015 at 4:00 pm in Overture Hall.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our professional musicians to mentor the younger performers, “ says Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Maestro Andrew Sewell, who will conduct the concert. “It’s also a tremendous occasion for the younger musicians to inspire our professionals.”
This will be the third presentation of the concert since its inception. The program consists of works by Shoshtakovich, Ibert, Elgar, and Mussorgsky and will feature the talents of two WYSO concerto winners, Adam Yeazel and Maynie Bradley. Yeazel will perform the Saxophone Concerto by Ibert, and the Shostakovich Violin Concerto will be performed by Bradley.
According to Maestro Sewell, Side by Side concerts give students “tremendous inspiration and the confidence to play difficult repertoire next to seasoned musicians. We are thrilled to bring this notable musical performance to Overture Hall.”
The public is invited to this free concert. Reservations must be made by calling the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra office at 608.257.0638. Please note that places are being reserved for this concert, but there will be no tickets. Seating is General Admission. For more information please visit wcoconcerts.org.
