Air Traffic Controller, "a sonorous mix of bright, edgy sounds" (Culture Collide), will release their new EP, Echo Papa, 6/23/17.
The Boston-based quintet, comprised of Dave Munro, Casey Sullivan, Steve Scott, Adam Salameh and Adrian Aiello, have racked up a long list of accolades since forming in 2009. Most recently, the 2016 album Black Box - and its lead single/video, “The House” - received three Independent Music Awards, several Boston Music Awards nominations (and one win), and more. In addition, “The House” has over 2 million plays on Spotify. The band played over 100 shows in 2016 alone, including the famed Summerfest. Previously, they performed at the 2015 Billboard Hot 100 Fest, alongside The Weeknd and Justin Bieber.
Echo Papa’s first single, “After Party,” “a thumping electronic-pop track” (Vanyaland) with “groove laden guitar licks, and a swooning melody that you'll be sure to fall head over heels for,” (Music Box Pete) was inspired by and penned as a metaphor for the results of the 2016 presidential election. Lead singer Munro explains, “We wrote this song back in January, trying to express our feelings about this out of control political climate, which feels a lot like a drunken after party. How did we end up here? Is this even politics anymore, or are we in some sort of post-party reality tv free for all?”
With the release of Echo Papa, Air Traffic Controller are poised to make 2017 their most notable year yet.
