press release: Minnesota based folk musician Amanda Standalone will return to Madison at The Up North Bar and Grill, playing from 8pm-11 pm. Amanda Standalone is a folk/Americana singer and songwriter and multi instrumentalist from the Red River Valley of Minnesota. Her songs tell of her travels and travails from the Midwest to the West Coast to the East Coast and across the continent. A long time street performer and entertainer, she has seen a lot of the world and lived to tell about it. With a voice that has been described as "deep and earthy", her blue guitar, and her washtub bass, she brings her audience songs from her well traveled heart and mind.
Standalone has two albums available, Millions of Blackbirds with her band The Pastry Shop Girls released in 2010. The song “Bird Flew Hard” from that album was licensed for the HBO documentary Paycheck to Payceck: The Life and Times of Katrina Gilbert. Her most recent solo adventure Trouble was released 2014 funded in part by a Minnesota State Arts board Legacy Grant. Both are available at Cdbaby.com.
