"Bordello of Horror" Live
Al. Ringling Theatre, Baraboo 136 4th Ave., Baraboo, Wisconsin 53913
press release: Bordello of Horror was established in 2008 to fill the void of the classic late night horror show which usually featured a scary yet somewhat kooky and loveable host presenting horror and sci-fi movies to satisfy the film palate of adults and children alike. The show was developed by Baraboo Wisconsin native Rich Peterson who fills the shoes of the main character known as Freakshow.
After several years of cast changes, airing on multiple cable access channels across the United States, online platforms and, generally discovering itself; Bordello of Horror found its late night home on Madison Wisconsin’s broadcast channel 57 (WBUW) in September of 2014. The show which airs every Saturday from midnight to 2am is always growing and could almost at this point be considered a horror variety show. With its current cast of Freakshow, Sgt. Drizzlepuss, Mistress Malicious (a fellow Baraboo native), Ali Katt, and a few other recurring characters they bring to the airwaves their own brand of comedy mixed in with local musical guests (student projects with MMI), movie reviews, celebrity interviews, convention footage, and more.
Wanting to give back to the theater that he grew up with, Rich Peterson decided to go out on a limb and bring the show to the Al Ringling Theatre stage live with all ticket proceeds going to benefit the theater. Having never attempted live theater, this will surely be an event that should not be missed. The show will be hosted by guest emcee (former horror host and center square of pop culture) Doctor Ivan Cryptosis as the zany cast will be performing their onstage antics with special guest appearances, and presenting the feature film “Spider Baby” (1967) starring Lon Chaney Jr., Carol Ohmart, and Sid Haig.
The fun doesn’t stop there as the cast will be presenting a FREE after party and costume contest at the Pumphouse Sports Bar and Grill (E11614 Tranquility Lane Baraboo, WI) with live music by Deadlok. Costumes should not be worn to the Al Ringling to protect the newly renovated theater. Costume contest will be conducted between 11:30 – midnight.
The event will take place on Saturday October 1, to officially kick off the Halloween season. The lobby opens at 6:30 pm with a 7:30 show time running until roughly 9:30. Tickets are just $10.00 and can be purchased in advance online at www.alringling.com or at the Al Ringling box office at 136 4th avenue in Baraboo. This show is considered PG13 and theater goers should know that this event will be filmed.
