Call For Art: (n)either (n)or explores themes of liminality, marginality, and the difficulty of inhabiting contested or transitional spaces. We invite artists to submit work that investigates these issues as they relate to uncertainty and refusals of certainty, politics of identity, difference and culture, and how institutional relationships are imagined in collective mental and physical spaces.
The Curatorial Lab of the University Wisconsin- Madison’s Department of Art History functions at the margins of its host, the Chazen Museum of Art. Located within the Conrad A. Elvehjem building but outside the museum proper, this adjacent space does not belong to the museum, it is not subject to museum curatorial authority, nor is it monitored by museum security.
A traditional white cube gallery with an exterior east-facing window on the Elvehjem's North courtyard, the Curatorial Lab is uniquely situated to invite interventions that will inevitably engage in dialogue with this institutional site.
Art in all media as well as documentation of site-specific, relational or otherwise time and/or space bounded projects are welcome; some support for technology is possible, as is the printing of digital images. For consideration, please submit:
-High quality digital images of artwork or links to video
-100-200 word description suitable for reproduction in an exhibit catalog
-Submit proposals via our Submission Form at neithernoreitheror.wordpress.com
There is no entry fee, shipping costs will be the responsibility of the artist
