Though he began his career writing lyrics for his cousin Ice Cube’s group Da Lench Mob, Del the Funky Homosapien is pretty far removed from gangsta rap. The influential, eccentric emcee is known for his funky flights of fancy (“Mistadobalina,” probably his best-known single, is built around a Monkees sample) and his frequent collaborations with Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz (the rap verses on “Clint Eastwood”?
