About the Lecture: During this year’s Nauryz Holiday, 19 leaders from across Wisconsin experienced the hospitality of Pavlodar, Kazakhstan. On an educational voyage designed to help them develop intercultural competencies and engage in citizen diplomacy, these leaders were hosted by local families during this important national holiday. Their journey began in Almaty and ultimately ended in the futuristic glow of Astana. Representatives of the group will share what they learned about Kazakhstani culture, and ultimately about themselves and their own country. They will share their impressions of Kazakhstan’s present and future as they reflect on visits with entrepreneurs, host families, educational institutions, and local leaders.
