Get Some Fresh Ideas for Homegrown Herbs
Seasoned epicures and novice chefs alike can get inspired at the herb cooking class Sat., May 23, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at America’s Best Flowers, 4311 Vilas Hope Road. Indulge dinner guests with a meal finished with fresh herbs this summer. Recipes may be simple or involved, but growing herbs is decidedly low-key.
“Honestly, it can be as simple as adding a basil leaf to a sliced tomato,” says Steve Hauge, of America’s Best Flowers. “And herbs don’t need much to grow well, but they offer a lot in return!”
Hauge demonstrates delicious recipes highlighting some of the 25 herb varieties on-hand in the greenhouses. Sample the flavors and learn how to grow these decidedly low-key garden plants. Hauge also offers ‘sage’ advice on how to harvest and store herbs savory and sweet to extend the season.
