History Sandwiched In
Wisconsin Historical Museum 30 N. Carroll St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
Three Centuries of African American History in the Badger State: Ask most Wisconsin residents about our state's black history and they're likely to name Vel Phillips and Father Groppi. But African-Americans were living here long before Yankees, Germans, or Scandinavians. Michael Edmonds, Society director of programs and outreach, and author of “Risking Everything: A Freedom Summer Reader”, will highlight black history in Wisconsin from the fur trade era to today.
