During his residency, Josh will be exploring the library and all its workings through his comics. His drawings and drawing exercises will encourage visitors, particularly kids, to explore and make discoveries. By the end of the residency, he is excited to produce a series of zines unified by the theme of showcasing the valuable information one can discover in a library.
Josh Duncan, known online as “Josh The Cartoon Guy,” got started by drawing superhero adventures with his best friend. Inspired throughout his career by incredible teachers and faculty like Mrs. Wilson, Professor Reinhold Marxhausen, Professor Lynda Barry, and through his tenure with the UW comics club, Josh has had a lifelong love of cartooning. He discovered how to use cartooning to become a better student in every class he took. In addition to working as an art teacher, Josh hopes to write fictional and non-fictional comics which will demonstrate their potential as an educational tool in multiple fields.
Join Josh and the UW Comics Club for Hands-On, family friendly workshops throughout June & July in the Bubbler!
