press release: Isthmus Brass, Wisconsin’s premier large brass ensemble will host a free concert for the public in support of Porchlight. The concert will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, December 8, at First United Methodist Church located at 203 Wisconsin Avenue in Madison. Isthmus Brass has raised more than $10,000 over the last 5 years through their annual concert for Porchlight.
Many holiday classics will be played including favorites from the Nutcracker Suite, Santa Baby and Joy to the World. Isthmus Brass is composed of many talented musicians from all over Wisconsin and the United States. The conductor, John Stevens, along with the other ensemble members will take concert goers on a trip down memory lane. Beautiful combinations of tuba, trombone, trumpets, and horns will put everyone attending in the holiday spirit.
Porchlight currently houses over 470 persons in over 300 housing units around Madison and Sun Prairie. Porchlight also operates the drop-in shelter for men, a daytime resource center, housing and resources facility for persons suffering from serious mental illness. The funds raised from this concert will provide supportive services and low-cost housing for families and individuals in hope of decreasing homelessness in Dane County by empowering residents and program participants to positively shape their lives.
