Madison Community Discourse presents its Second Annual Art Exhibition: Courage. This exhibition presents a selection of art from over 30 artists, including sculpture, mixed media, drawing, photography, painting, illustration, sound explorations, and printmaking as it explores what “Courage is” in our lives. The opening reception, on Friday June 5, will feature fine art, a live string quartet, interactive art, and delicious treats from a local bakery. The show will run June 5-June 13 and will offer a variety of events and programming ranging for children and adults every day. All events will be hosted at Art In, 1444 E Washington Ave Madison, WI.
Each year we focus on a theme to connect community through collective experience and art. Last year we focused on love in a project called “A Discourse on Love”. In this first year, artist Mallory Shotwell interviewed one hundred people on love, asked questions, collected artifacts and stories.
This year artists and community members explore Courage, as the project phases into a community arts nonprofit called Madison Community Discourse. This week features a sampling of what the nonprofit will offer.
Friday, June 5: 5pm-9pm: Reception for Art Exhibition. Curated collection of over 30 artists visually representing what “Courage is” to them. Fine art in a gallery setting, with over ten interactive pieces to engage with, food from Looking House Bakery, and a live music from the Suzuki Strings of Madison.
