Earlier this week, Madison Youth Choirs (MYC) received the prestigious honor of a second invitation to the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Scotland and will plan to embark on this international tour with its three most advanced girlchoirs, Capriccio, Cantilena, and Cantabile, in late summer 2016.
MYC's boychoirs appeared in the festival in 2014 and found the experience exhilarating and life-changing. The young singers will have the opportunity to perform alongside hundreds of young artists from around the world and discover the thrill of sharing their voices in historic theaters and cathedrals throughout northern Scotland. The girls will also have the chance to tour the castles, ancient archeological sites, and gorgeous landscape of the country.
Auditions for MYC's performing choirs, including the three girl choirs that will travel to Scotland, will be held this May for the 2015-2016 season. Singers ages 11-18 are invited to audition on Monday, May 18 (boys) or Sunday, May 31 (girls) to join an ensemble in the fall. Auditions are free, require no advanced preparation, and musicians of all ability levels are welcome to sign up. Weekly rehearsals (and auditions) are held at Westgate Studios in Madison.
Younger singers ages 7-10 may enroll directly into one of MYC's summer introductory choirs. Classes for both boys and girls will begin in June and registration is now open for one of three week-long sessions.

ABOUT THE MADISON YOUTH CHOIRS (MYC)
Recognized as an innovator in youth choral music education, Madison Youth Choirs (MYC) welcomes singers of all ability levels, challenging them to learn more than just notes and rhythms. Our singers explore the history, context, and heart of the music, becoming "expert noticers," using music as a lens to discover the world. MYC serves more than 500 young people, ages 7-18, in 11 single-gender choirs. In summer 2014, 71 members of our boychoirs traveled to Scotland for their first appearance at the invitation-only Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
