Margaret Glaspy honed her chops at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, which may be news to the esteemed music school. Sneaking into classes and workshops, Glaspy transformed herself into an excellent alt-rock songwriter. She’s parlayed a diverse set of influences, from Joni Mitchell to Rage Against the Machine, into a whip-smart sound that’s all her own. Her debut, album Emotions and Math, was released in 2016. $15 (ages 18+). Presented by Majestic Live and True Endeavors.
"Low-end-heavy indie rock with disarmingly honest lyrics" - Rolling Stone
"Her voice is raspily matter-of-fact and her guitar delivers a blunt, distorted riff - grunge with a
twang - as bass and drums thump along." - Jon Pareles, The New York Times
Described as 'an album full of songs that is frank, conversational and eerily good at understanding mood,' by the Washington Post, Margaret Glaspy's debut album Emotions and Math continues to feel intimate and captivating in her live shows.
Emotions and Math was featured prominently on many 'Best of 2016' Year-End lists, including those of the New York Times, NPR Music, Billboard, Mother Jones, and more. Watch her perform the title track on CBS This Morning: Saturday:
