Taliesin-Hillside Theater, Spring Green 6604 State Highway 23, Spring Green, Wisconsin 53588
press release: Rural Musicians Forum is thrilled to present for the first-time Matthew Coley, an internationally acclaimed performer on marimba, percussion, hammered dulcimer/cimbalom, and glass. Described as "off the charts," Matthew’s virtuosity and charisma will leave the audience breathless. This concert, taking place on Monday June 18 at 7:30PM at Taliesin’s Hillside Theatre near Spring Green, will mark the opening of the Rural Musicians Forum 2018 Summer Series, Beautiful Music in a Beautiful Place.
The concert will feature a combination of traditional folk music from Moldova, Hungary, France, and Ireland with familiar classical music and modern creations inspired by the folk idiom. This event falls within the Heartland Marimba Ensemble's summer tour and thus HME will accompany Matthew on several of the works for a unique fusion of western classical percussion instruments producing the colorful sounds of the old-world Eastern European traditional tunes. Matthew will perform on an American Appalachian hammered dulcimer and a Hungarian classical cimbalom.
This concert will also include a special guest appearance by Meredith Anding, winner of the 2017 RMF high school music award. Get ready for a season filled with spectacular music and performers!
Admission is by free will offering.
Hillside Theatre is located at 6604 State Hwy 23, about five miles south of Spring Green.
