Memory Cloth Circle

Whole Foods Market 3313 University Ave., Madison, Wisconsin 53705
March 11- May 27, 7:30am-10pm daily
press release: While in Whole Foods Market, across the street from her office, Pamela Phillips Olson had an inspiration. The Memory Cloth Circle (of which she is a member) could embroider and applique recipes on dishtowels to exhibit in the dining area of the store. Everyone in the group agreed and got to work with MUCHO GUSTO!
The Memory Cloth Circle originated in 2013 with a series of performances connected with the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s Wisconsin Triennial. As part of Café Allonge, Leslee Nelson, art professor emerita, UW-Madison, invited people to join her in making Memory Cloths. Many of those who participated wanted to continue. Since the spring of 2014, Leslee has inspired this group of women to use embroidery to explore their memories and tell their stories.
This is our fifth exhibit.
The act of sewing (like cooking) triggers recollections. Both open the possibility of connection and reconnection. Enjoy, share the experience & create the recipes!
