press release: The High Noon Saloon is hosting the 9th Annual Bob Marley Birthday Bash with Madison’s own reggae ambassadors Natty Nation with special guests Concrete Roots and WORT-FM’s DJ Crew, Tropical Riddims Sound System for a celebration of Bob Marley’s music 2 days before his 72nd birthday, February 6, 1945.
Bob Marley’s musical and cultural influences have engendered reggae’s explosive growth. His brilliant blend of the hypnotic danceable beats and messages of peace, love and social justice established reggae as a prophetic voice for popular causes and an enduring popular musical genre. Marley put reggae on the map.
2017 marks Natty Nation’s 22nd anniversary of keeping the positive messages of their unique indigenous Wisconsin reggae beats throbbing through the heartland. Natty Nation's members pride themselves on playing original music, but in what is now a 9 year tradition, the band honors Bob Marley’s legacy by paying tribute to the king of reggae during his birthday month.
Joining Natty’s annual Marley tribute are Chicago’s Concrete Roots creating a unique sound by blending roots-reggae- dub with soul and hip-hop.
The music starts early when Tropical Riddims Sound System warms up the dance floor at 8:00 PM. Concrete Roots hits the stage at 9:30 PM.
Voted by Isthmus readers in 2016 as Madison’s favorite dance band, Natty Nation fans enjoy the blend of their favorite Natty tunes mixed with Marley's music for an energizing night of dancing. Join the celebration and reggae all through the night to celebrate the legacy of the king of reggae, Bob Marley.
