CANCELED: Madison Family Fest

press release: The World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11, 2020 and is urging "social distancing" as a means to delay/prevent the spread of the disease in areas such as Wisconsin where the cases are currently classified as “sporadic.” Coronavirus is not “just like the flu.” It is estimated to be 10-30% more deadly than flu and it spreads quickly as there is basically no existing immunity to the disease.
Delaying the spread of the virus (slowing it down) is incredibly important because it reduces the chances that local hospitals will become overwhelmed with more patients than beds - a situation which greatly increases the risk of deaths. The danger of hospitals being over-capacity is not just for coronavirus patients but for anyone who may need emergency medical services for any reason - especially those with compromised immune systems.
After much deliberation and near disbelief that this is actually happening; we feel that it is our responsibility as community members and business leaders to do everything in our power to prevent the spread of infection. Therefore there is one clear course of action that is the most socially responsible. We cannot in good conscience host a public gathering for thousands of people amid this threat. We must follow the advice of the world's foremost epidemiologists and public health experts. It is better to be safe than sorry when lives are on the line.
We run this event out of love and appreciation for this community, and now we must cancel/postpone this event in the best interest of the community. We will provide more updates on the future of Madison Family Fest as we find out more.
