The Barrymore Theatre in Madison, WI welcomes comedian Paula Poundstone. “On February 11th, I insist on going to The Barrymore Theatre in Madison, Wisconsin to freeze my ass off in solidarity with the people of Wisconsin” says Poundstone.
Paula Poundstone is legendary for her razor-sharp wit and a master at spontaneous interaction with a crowd. She is crazy (over the top) hilarious as a regular panelist on NPR’s #1 show, “Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” She tours regularly, performing stand-up comedy across America. Her second book, The Totally Unscientific Study of the Search for Human Happiness (Algonquin Books) is available for preorder and on sale May 9, 2017. Her newest CD, North By Northwest: Paula Poundstone Live! (HighBridge) debuted in June at #1 on both Amazon’s “Hot New Releases – Non Fiction” and “Comedy CD” lists and on Billboards “Top Ten Comedy Albums” chart.
The talented comedian is the star of several HBO comedy specials and had her own series on HBO and ABC. Paula is recognized as one of Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comics of all Time, and won an American Comedy Award for Best Female Standup Comic. She is the first woman to share the stage with the President and host the prestigious White House Correspondents dinner, a role not until then offered to a woman in its seventy-two year history. Poundstone is known for never doing the same show twice, but always pleasing a crowd. Audience members often leave complaining that their cheeks hurt from laughter and wondering if the random people she talked to in the audience were plants. They never are.
