press release: Madison's own, The Grasshoppers and Pine Travelers are teaming up for a Cinco de Mayo throw down at the High Noon Saloon! The show will feature a nice long set from each band followed by a 3rd collaboration set featuring members from both bands!
Pine Travelers create original music based in roots rock and expanding into tight funk grooves, while also gleaning the best elements of outlaw country, folk, and bluegrass to inform their songwriting. After forming a songwriting partnership in 2013, founding members Nick Clutter and Alex White released the album, “Float On” in 2014, followed by a band name change and subsequent release of Pine Travelers’ self-titled debut album in the spring of 2015. Their songwriting and touring schedule have showed no signs of slowing down, with over 120 performances in 2017 alone, and plans for a new album release in 2018.
The Grasshoppers have become a Madison staple to the jam rock scene since forming in 2006. Playing with great meaning and understanding to their audience, they continue to leap bounds of musical limits and expectations for a greater goal. Having worked hard to etch themselves out an impressive niche in the Wisconsin jam community, The Grasshoppers are a force in the psychedelic rock scene, with gritty keyboard solos, top tier guitar work, and a tight rhythm pocket. The flawless mixture of psychedelic rock, jam, and blues have helped fans to become helplessly addicted to their catchy hooks, face melting solos, and joyous melodies. Featuring Jimmy ‘Tree’ Sanborn on guitar, Joe ‘Burbie’ Burbach on keys, Jason 'Stinky' Menting on drums, and 'Slick' Rick Becerra on bass, The Grasshoppers are excited to bring their “never disappoint an audience” attitude back to the High Noon.
