2015 public tours to take place May 15 - 17
In 2014, Alliant Energy celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Prairie du Sac Dam. Over 900 people toured the dam, but we received more tour requests than we could meet!
As a result, the utility is partnering again with the Sauk Prairie Area Historical Society to offer public tours of the dam in May.
When: Time slots are available from
3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 15
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17
Reservations will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
2014 Prairie du Sac dam toursWhere: Tours will begin and end at the Historical Society’s Tripp Heritage Museum, 565 Water Street, Prairie du Sac. Participants will take a five-minute bus ride from the museum to the dam for the 90-minute tours.
For those waiting for their tour to depart, the museum will feature a display commemorating the Prairie du Sac dam’s 100th anniversary and the corresponding formation of Lake Wisconsin.
Cost: The tour costs $5 for adults and children. Proceeds from the tickets will support programming at the Sauk Prairie Historical Society.

Tour directors will include retired and current Prairie du Sac Dam employees. Photos will be allowed in all areas of the facility.
