Pretend Sweethearts, Treemo
Mother Fool's Coffeehouse 1101 Williamson St., Madison, Wisconsin 53703
press release: Pretend Sweethearts bring their mystical hobo folk music to Madison this summer. The duo is on a two-month tour of the Western US and the Midwest, showcasing a rich catalog of original songs and choice covers, sharing instrumental duties on guitar, upright bass and pedal steel, and singing in shiny harmony. The bi-coastal Sweethearts sometimes hail from Portland, Oregon and sometimes from Atlanta, Georgia or Cochabamba, Bolivia, and tour with their two kids.
The duo is sometimes likened to The Civil Wars, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings or Sacco & Vanzetti. The Portland Tribune called their first full length CD, Becoming the Tender Animal, “a rich, meditative listening experience with subtle humor,” and the Portland Mercury calls singer Brianna Lynn’s voice “striking” and “cloudless”. The couple have plans with grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Peter Case for a new record later this year.
The Show: Pretend Sweethearts will appear at Mother Fool’s on July 29th. Show at 8 pm Treemo opens. $7
