press release: Three domestic violence memorial walks will take place at 11:55 a.m. on September 30, 2019, in Madison, Milwaukee and Stevens Point. The Purple Ribbon Walk, which was first organized in 2007 by Zonta Club of Madison, is a silent vigil to recognize the yearly number of domestic abuse homicide victims in Wisconsin. In 2018, 47 victims were killed in domestic violence incidents. A number of civic leaders are expected to join community members in honoring the lives lost to domestic violence in 2018.
- The 12th Annual Purple Ribbon Walk in Madison, organized by Zonta Club of Madison, will begin at the State Street entrance to the Capitol and circle the Capitol Square.
- The 4th Annual Purple Ribbon Walk in Stevens Point, sponsored by the Portage County Coordinated Community Response team, will begin outside the Portage County Courthouse on Arlington Avenue and Church Street.
- The 5th Annual Walk in Milwaukee, hosted by Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women, will begin at City Hall.
