Roberto Plano & Paola Del Negro
press release: Italian husband and wife piano duo Roberto Plano & Paola Del Negro kick off the season with Schumann’s Pictures from the East (Bilder aus Osten, Op. 66), Brahms’ Hungarian Dances 1-5, The Moldau by Smetana, and Brahms' Sonata for Two Pianos, Op. 34b. The duo will perform on one piano for the first half of the program and on two for the second half.
Roberto Plano is originally from Varese, Italy, and currently teaches at Boston University. The New York Times describes Mr. Plano as showing, "artistic maturity beyond his years," and showcasing "a wonderful clarity and control of inner voices" in his performances.
Paola Del Negro made her debut at the Teatro Juvarra in Turin at the age of nine. In 2001 she graduated from the Conservatory "Nino Rota" under the guidance of Marina Scalafiotti. She has received first prize in over twenty national and international piano competitions. Very active in the chamber music field, she has collaborated with clarinetist Paolo Montagna and Emanuele Morazzoni, and the pianist Alberto Miodini.
