The Brink Lounge Presents: A Tribute To The Grateful Dead
Madison’s favorite jam band Sweet Delta Dawn is hosting a Grateful Dead Tribute show at The Brink Lounge on Friday, June 29th. They will be joined by the band “Funkyard Dealers” from Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Come out to the show and help support your local music scene! (~);}
The Funkyard Dealers are an ensemble which represent a dynamic progressive funk style; stripped down, incorporating multiple rhythms, grooves and sounds. The band is comprised of members KC McCrum (guitar), Brian Johnston (drums), Pete Koconis (bass), Jeremiah Urbans (guitar) who all hail from Wisconsin Rapids. The concept of the group started in 2011 as an idea while Brian and KC were playing together in another local band. KC and Brian then asked Pete to join the band due to a similar musical background. The group remained a three piece until the summer of 2015 when Jeremiah was officially added as a member.
Sweet Delta Dawn is a four piece rock ensemble from Madison consisting of a talented group of musicians/songwriters. Starting in 2012, Sweet Delta Dawn has been a staple in the Madison jam community ever since. Together, they tell a futuristic tale of American life with a wholesome blend of the past. Covering a variety of jam, folk, classic rock, jazz, funk, and modern music alongside a multicultural mix of rhythms. Their music creates a platform for people to feel free and expressive. “You will LOVE Sweet Delta Dawn!” raves The Frequency.
“Great music on tap tonight” declares The Brink Lounge.

Walking in his footsteps in the Sweet Delta Dawn:
In keeping with the spirit of bands like The Grateful Dead, Sweet Delta Dawn jams from one song into the next and back again. Seamlessly blending songs together throughout a setlist, to invoke a unique musical experience with each performance. Often, like The Dead, they leave room for exploratory, textural, spacey soundscapes. “One amazing musical tapestry,” states The Brink Lounge. Sweet Delta Dawn bassist and vocalist Jeff Clarke says, “We LOVE The Grateful Dead!” “They’ve paved the way and helped create a scene where Jam Bands like us can flourish. They’ve had a positive influence on so much, not only in music, but in the world. It’s 50 years later and they’re still jamming, it really is a beautiful thing. We want people to feel the way that music makes all of us feel.
