Madison Theatre Guild and OUT!Cast Theatre collaborate on this play about a 1930s vaudeville comedian whose specialty is a “sissy” characterization, but who is also a closeted gay man. A new relationship and a political crackdown lead to a major conflict between his personal and professional lives. Through May 6.
press release: Madison Theatre Guild and OUT!Cast Theatre announce their co-production of “The Nance” running April 21-May 6, 2017 on the upstairs Drury Stage at the Bartell Theatre, 113 E. Mifflin Street in Madison.
“The Nance” is not a musical, but includes several musical numbers and authentic vaudeville-era sketches and striptease numbers. Due to profanity and other language of the era that’s politically incorrect, as well as some fleeting nudity, the play is recommended for mature audiences. Tickets are $20 and may be obtained at the Bartell box office, by calling 608-661-9696 or online at www.BartellTheatre.org.
