press release: Goodman South Madison Library is excited to exihibt new work from Tyanna J. Buie this June. A Chicago and Milwaukee native, Tyanna Buie is a visual artist and professor of fine arts and printmaking at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.
Tyanna will be creating prints inspired by family photographs specifically for the Goodman South Library. These prints will be on display throughout the month of June with an opening reception June 3rd from 5-7:45pm.
She will also be hosting a drop in workshop for families and a hands-on workshop for teens in techniques with monoprint printmaking, experimenting with color and design during her visit to Madison on June 1st and 2nd. Our teen workshop is by registration only, please register online here.
Tyanna received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her BA from Western Illinois University. She has attended Artist in Residency programs and lectured across the country and participates in Healthy Neighborhood Initiatives through the production of public art for underserved neighborhoods in Milwaukee, WI..
She exhibits her work in numerous juried, group, and solo exhibitions nationally and is included in the permanent collection at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She is represented by Dean Jensen Gallery in Milwaukee.
