$5 ($7 ages 18+).
press release: Madison indie pop band Woodrow will be releasing their second EP at the High Noon Saloon on Friday September, 29th. Joining them is Nester, Madison-based modern experimental rock, and the folk rock power-trio SHESHE. Doors open at 8:30pm, show runs 9:30pm-12:30am, and the cover will be $5 (21+) / $7 (ages 18-20).
Recently voted Madison’s ‘Best New Band’ by Isthmus readers, Woodrow revels in singalong choruses, exuberant vocals, and a judicious sprinkle of Auto-Tune here and there. The band was formed last October when medical physics grad student Connor Brennan recruited a ragtag group of musician friends to help him bring life to a dozen or so piano pop tunes scrawled in the margins of his medical notes. The band itself came to life when Connor found 5 acid-washed denim jackets on sale in the men’s section of Forever 21.
Following the denim-clad release of their debut EP 'José' in June, Woodrow spent the summer eagerly crafting and recording their follow-up: 'Buds & Thorns'. Whereas the first EP saw the band experimenting with their sonic portfolio, ‘Buds & Thorns’ weaves together five fully-developed pop singles into a vibrant sonic tapestry, including a duet featuring the vocal talents of Chicago artist Ashley Foreman.
Come see the group that The Capital Times called ‘joyous, bittersweet, and goofy’ release their vibrant new album in true Woodrow fashion at the High Noon Saloon on 9/29. The boys are back with 5 new quirky bangers and more denim than ever.
‘Woodrow consistently finds clarity in ambiguity. ‘José’ embodies the spaciousness of a band unconcerned with expectations, and this might be their biggest asset.’ – EMMIE Music Mag
