Outstanding in the Field, the traveling outdoor restaurant that showcases farm-to-table dinners right in the fields, has scheduled an Aug. 9 meal at Troy Gardens. Claire Strader and Jake Hoeksema are host farmers; chefs from Underground Food Collective will prepare the meal in the "nomadic al fresco kitchen." Outstanding in the Field crisscrosses the country from May to December putting on these in situ dinners.
Tickets for the dinner ($180) are on sale here, and they do go fast; the other Wisconsin event at the Dietzler Farm in Elkhorn is already sold out. About 130 diners can be accommodated. Call the Troy office at 608-240-0409 for more info.
And staff from Troy Gardens are planning a similar event in September as a fundraiser for Community GroundWorks. Stay tuned for details.
Shine On from Central Waters Brewing Company
Shine On offers brilliant reddish-bronze color and firm malty body. It is a middle-of-the-road red with caramel sweetness that blends well with most food selections. This is a nice beer with firm malty backbone, making it a good choice for most refrigerators and a great flagship for an environmentally conscientious brewery.
