The Wisconsin Historical Society's "History Sandwiched In" brown-bag lunch program today features a talk on ice cream in Wisconsin, by Bill Klein. The annual Tandem Press Wine Auction returns with an eyepopping selection of wines, plus hors d'oeuvres and a gourmet dinner catered by one of Madison's favorite Italian restaurants, Lombardino's. Plus, aerial dance troupe Cycropia and Peruvian music by Richard Hildner and Franklin Gomez and fine art prints from Tandem Press. Some of the wines being auctioned: a 1971 Johannisberger Klaus Riesling Beerenauslese, a 1986 Chteau Montelena Cabernet Sauvignon, and a 1990 Chteau Troplong Mondot Saint Emilion, plus other good stuff like U2 tix and a Trek Travel Adventure Weekend to the California Wine Country. Wollersheim Winery's Prairie Fumé Picnic Days features wine tastings, music, self-guided tours, kids' activities. Picnic lunches are welcome.
