Stoughton brought us the coffee break. Now it's making eating local easy with an event called Local-motion: An Eat Local Crawl, set for this coming Saturday, September 12. Ten locally owned food spots will be serving everything from snacks to meals, made with locally grown ingredients.
Taking its cue from the concept of the pub crawl, the "-motion" will encourage eaters to walk between restaurants (crawling is optional). The tour includes:
- , 971 N. Page St., will be serving a homemade Italian sausage served with a marinara sauce.
- The , a cooking specialties store at 160 E. Main St., will be offering samples of Diamond Don's Sweet and Hot Mustard, a Stoughton-made product.
- Also participating are with a house-made pasty, and craft-brew tavern the Main Street Pour House with a Wisconsin beer cheese soup.
All crawl spots are within a three-block area on Main Street, with restaurants whose bricks-and-mortar establishments are not in the area set up in booths.
The crawl takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 12. There's no overall admission fee, but each restaurant will charge $2 to $5 for its menu items. More information about the event and this eat local challenge is provided here by the Yahara River Grocery Co-op.
