Concourse jazz jam dead

The weekly wednesday jazz jam at the Concourse has died after 8 years.

I thought this was (a complaint?) about the Concourse jazz "jamming" Grateful Dead.
I'm sure no one else thought the same, but still pretty funny to me.

Jazz is very much alive. As Patrick points out in his comments, the place was packed every Wednesday but dead anytime there was no music.
Jazz is alive, but jazz venues are dying. We need some jazz lovers to open up venues.
It will all work out for the New Breed though, their crowd will follow them and someone will pick up the jam.

The Concourse Hotel recently sent a form letter to local musicians who played there, stating that they were making the change because live jazz scored low on a customer survey asking people to rate what they would prefer in a hotel bar experience. To my understanding, the hotel bar will be remodeled without a stage, and will include more televisions.
It goes without saying that if the hotel's former GM, Cal Worrell were still alive, the bar would still be a venue for local jazz, as the space was his personal brainchild. Without him, the venue has fallen victim to the hotel's corporate agenda.
Make no mistake, there are still a multitude of venues to regularly hear local jazz, including Restaurant Magnus, Samba Brazilian Grill, The downtown Hilton, and others that also present a variety of other styles.
To those who value local music, whatever the style, please continue to patronize your favorite live music venue, or it may also fall victim.
