Madison's AJ Love says he's giving up blues for now to pursue country full-time. In a newsletter to fans, Love announces he'll be ending his Friday shows at the Knuckle Down Saloon. "I've got a few band projects coming together that I'm really excited about, featuring the classic country music of artists such as Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Hank Williams Sr.," he writes.
The Madison Jazz Jam is expanding to twice-monthly sessions this fall. The event is a three-hour Sunday jam for improvisational players, regardless of experience. Sessions are 4-7 p.m. The next one is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 9, at Talula, 802 Atlas Ave. The jam attracts local favorites including Paul Hastil, Michael Butkus-Bomier, John Christensen, Rand Moore and Michael Brenneis.
