So I'll be going over to Holland and Germany April 1-10 to support my new album, Brand New Bag. Amsterdam-based label Sonic Rendezvous has recently released/distributed the new CD in Europe and it will be my third tour over the pond. I'm lucky in that I've always had great support in Europe and it's made my musical passion/hobby of the last decade a lot more fun and interesting. I've seen the world and made lots of friends via the silly songs I've written/recorded.
These days I play out a lot less, but I'm looking forward to going back to Europe. This will be the first time I go over as a stripped-down duo act. I'll be taking along long-time friend and guitar player Eric Straumanis. In 2003 and 2005, I took a full rockin' band to Europe and toured for a full month w/ van, tour manager, festivals etc. My new wife and life in Madison, as well as my day gig at Isthmus, makes this ten-day tour a little more feasible in my new grown-up-not-living-in-a van life. I'll be playing 100-300 seat venues, and we'll be driving ourselves around Europe this time, which should make for a real tour adventure.
I'll try and check in every few days with photos and accounts of the sights and sounds as we trek around Amsterdam, Hamburg etc. Pray for us... it's my third tour abroad under the George W regime, and I wear a funny cowboy hat and sing semi-twisted minor key countrified Americana. Supply and demand is a funny thing...
