The full list of nominees for the 2007 released Tuesday afternoon, following the release of "Song of the Year" hopefuls on Monday night. "Last night's nominee announcement party at the Brink Lounge was a huge success for the organization," says awards show founder Rick Tvedt in a Tuesday afternoon release presenting the full list of nominees.
The party was "more fun on a Monday night than should be legal," Tvedt continues, thanking the performers and presenters for their energy and suggesting that the celebration and fundraiser will become an annual MAMAs tradition.
In addition to the various genre-based awards for Song of the Year, the other categories in this year's MAMAs are: Male Vocalist, Female Vocalist, Instrumentalist, Ensemble, Studio, New Artist, Young Vocalist, Young Ensemble or Group, Album of the Year for multiple genres, Artist of the Year for multiple genres, Entertainer, Cover Band, Live Music Venue, Local Music Record Store, Local Music Radio Station, Local Radio Personality, and "Wish You Were Here," a Song of the Year award for "musicians and songwriters who do not meet the eligibility guidelines for the MAMAs but wish to donate to the charitable cause and compete for this award."
The full list of nominees is available in the related downloads at right.
"This is the most successful round of voting to date," says Tvedt in the press release. "There were very few technical inquiries, and over 7,000 votes were cast in the song category alone."
The final round of voting for this year's MAMAs begins on Sunday, April 1, with the awards show following nearly six weeks later on Saturday, May 12, at the Barrymore Theatre. Tvedt notes that performers for the show will be announced shortly, and tickets will soon be available for purchase.
