Dane County native Moses Patrou has remained busy since moving to New York in 2004. Between teaching gigs, tours with the Mama Digdown's Brass Band, recording New Orleans-influenced funk and soul on his own and singing the lead vocal on a popular Coke commercial that parodies Grand Theft Auto, he's kept his name out there in musical circles.
On "Daytime Lover" from his solo debut Introducing Moses Patrou, he slips easily into the role of contemporary R&B crooner, offering a love jam that works perfectly for those warm nights when the lights are low and animal instincts are getting full play. The rhythms are slow, the keyboards are mellow and Patrou's soulful vocal sweats with the promise of sexual healing.
I wouldn't put him on the level of legendary love doctors like Teddy Pendergast just yet, but the Brooklyn-based ex-pat is definitely an up-and-comer.

After celebrating his 31st birthday this weekend, he will be returning to town for a trio of shows next week. On Wednesday, April 23 and Saturday, April 26, Patrou will be performing with Johnny Chimes at the Ivory Room in downtown Madison and at Louisianne's in Middleton, respectively.
Patrou will take center stage at a release party for Introducing Moses Patrou, though, on Friday, April 25 at Café Montmartre, a show that will feature his five-piece band and several special guests.
